Welcome to Amani’s Kitchen
Operating out of the beautiful market town of Hitchin, Amani’s Kitchen brings the flavour and passion of Arabic/Middle Eastern food to Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and the wider south-east.

About Amani
Cooking has been my passion for as long as I can remember: as a child my happy place was the big table in my grandparents’ house in Iraq, full of delicious, hearty and aromatic food made by my grandmother, who always applied her own mouth-watering twists to classic Arabic/Middle Eastern meals and delicacies.

Later, inspired by these childhood memories, my own home in the UK became a hub for family and friends gathering around the table, the air filled with the scent of saffron from slow-cooked saffron lamb and of rosewater syrup dripping from honey dumplings…

Now I want to share my culinary experience and passion with you.

You can find me at:

Local food markets – where I offer mouth-watering Arabic/Middle Eastern food like Kuba (a thin outer layer of potatoes and/or rice that is stuffed with minced meat (vegan option available)), Dolma (stuffed vine leaves made from my grandmother’s recipe, with a tangy and juicy filling of rice and vegetables), my own authentic Arabic Falafel – and many other dishes that are vibrant and heart-warming.

Vegan markets – where I serve snacks and delicacies made with only plant-based ingredients, including spinach Fatayer with pomegranate seeds, Zaatar (thyme) pastries, vegan Mosakaa, vegan filo pastry filled with plant-based cream baked and drizzled with rosewater syrup, and biscuits filled with dates.

Festivals – where I provide Arabic/Middle Eastern dishes and snacks to keep you on your feet, including the Hitchin Street Food Festival, Bedford Running Festival and many more to come.

Private cooking – Hire me as a chef and I will create food that will enchant your guests on your special occasion.

Pop-up supper clubs – Informal gatherings where it’s all about taking the time to enjoy really good food, meet new people and make friends in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
